The Punjab Government has decided to lower electricity prices by Rs14 per unit for people using less than 500 units per month in August and September.

The former Prime Minister and President PML (N), Nawaz Sharif, while announcing this decision, acknowledged the hardships people are facing and instructed the Punjab government to take steps to ease the inflation burden.

He added that last month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a Rs50 billion energy subsidy for low-income households using less than 200 units of electricity.

He also announced a Rs700 billion package to give free solar panels to deserving families in Punjab.
